The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is introducing a new visa program called Unified GCC Visa. This exciting initiative aims to simplify travel across the region for residents and expatriates alike.
UAE Minister of Economy Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri announced “GCC Grand Tours”.
Key Points of Unified GCC Visa
Single Visa Access
Travelers can enter and move among all GCC member countries with just one visa, without the need for separate visas for each country.
Multiple Entries
The visa is expected to allow multiple entries across GCC countries within its validity period, making it convenient for travelers to visit several nations on a single trip.
Validity Period
Though the specific duration is yet to be finalized, it is anticipated that the visa could be valid for a considerable period, possibly up to six months or a year, allowing travelers to enter and exit the GCC countries multiple times.
Eligibility
It’s expected that both GCC residents and citizens from a list of pre-approved countries will be eligible. This will likely include those who already qualify for easy entry into GCC countries under existing rules.
Ease of Application
Aimed at streamlining the travel process, the visa application procedure is expected to be straightforward, potentially supported by an online platform for quick applications and approvals.
Purpose of Visit
The Unified GCC Visa is designed primarily for tourists and business visitors. It will facilitate easy travel for those visiting for leisure, business meetings, or short-term events and conferences.
Economic and Cultural Benefits
By encouraging tourism and business travel, the visa aims to enhance economic integration and cultural exchange within the GCC region.

Timeline and Implementation of GCC Grand Tours:
While an official launch date hasn’t been announced, officials are aiming for a rollout by the end of 2024.
At the Arabian Travel Market on Monday, Khalid Jasim Al Midfa from the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Authority (SCTDA) announced,
“The entire system will be operational by the end of this year. We are dedicatedly working around the clock, with e-service being a crucial component. Our aim is to streamline processes without adding complexity while ensuring high security standards are maintained. This initiative will bring about positive outcomes for regional economies.”

Unlike Schengen Visa
AlMidfa said that the goals of GCC-wide tourism are different from those of the Schengen visa. The Schengen visa was more about social or economic reasons, but here, tourism is the main focus. So, we need to organize it in a way that makes it easy for people to visit GCC countries.
Business travelers usually spend more money than tourists. They spend about three times more. Because of this, the travel packages for people who want to visit all the GCC countries should have different options. AlMidfa suggested having packages for both leisure and business travelers.
