In response to the devastating landslides that recently struck the Wayanad district in Kerala Dubai resident commits 50 homes for Kerala landslide victims (Dubai businessman PNC Menon). Menon, the founder and chairman of Sobha Group, expressed his solidarity with the people of Wayanad and emphasized the importance of providing both immediate and long-term support.
Menon stated in a message to Khaleej Times on Friday:
“In this hour of distress, we stand in solidarity with the people of Wayanad. Our pledge to build 50 homes is aimed at providing not only immediate relief but also long-term support to the affected families.”
The landslides, which swept through tea estates and villages in Kerala, resulted in the tragic loss of over 300 lives. The heavy rains triggered torrents of mud, water, and boulders, collapsing hillsides while people were asleep.

The tragic event has prompted several UAE residents and businessmen to offer their assistance. Dubai resident Shajahan Kuttiyath, originally from Wayanad and who lost nearly 100 relatives in the landslide, has initiated relief operations with his friends.
Additionally, MA Yusuff Ali, chairman and managing director of LuLu Group, and B. Ravi Pillai, chairman of the RP Group, have each donated approximately Dh2 million to the distress relief fund. VPS Healthcare and Aster DM Healthcare have also made significant contributions.
Menon, who also expressed his condolences for the lives lost, assured that the selection process for beneficiary families would be fair and impartial, ensuring that aid reaches those most in need.

This commitment to build 50 homes in Wayanad is in addition to Sobha Group’s ongoing project to construct 1,000 homes for underprivileged families in Palakkad district, Kerala. These efforts are managed and funded through the Sri Kurumba Educational and Charitable Trust.
