Abu Dhabi’s Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) in collaboration with Mubadala and the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) is taking the Abu Dhabi Canvas initiative to the next level. The goal? To brighten up the city with vibrant murals created by talented Emirati and local artists.
According to a tweet from the Abu Dhabi Media Office, the project “aims to create inclusive, enriching public spaces” and will feature artworks from five Emirati artists in the Rabdan area, as well as pieces from four students who participated in the National Art Expressions exhibition at Delivery Riders Hubs.

In Rabdan, the artwork will be hard to miss, with 17 murals, 26 creatively designed crosswalks, and 15 decorated utility boxes. This unique visual experience will blend art with everyday urban elements, making the streets more vibrant while celebrating local talent.
Salem Al Kaabi, Director General of Operational Affairs at DMT, explained:
“By partnering with the Mubadala Foundation and ADEK, we’re bringing art to the heart of the city, transforming everyday spaces and reflecting the UAE’s rich cultural heritage through the Abu Dhabi Canvas initiative.”
The Delivery Riders Hubs, located across the city, are also getting a colorful upgrade. These hubs not only provide essential services like shaded seating, air conditioning, water, and phone charging for delivery drivers but now also feature beautiful artworks. This initiative aims to improve the urban landscape while enriching the community with public art.
